Ruines du château et de la collégiale

L’histoire du château de Saint-Chamond est parcellaire. Suite à la Révolution et sa reconversion en carrière de pierres, il ne subsiste que peu de traces de cette ancienne place forte, fief des seigneurs de Saint-Chamond. Vingt-deux seigneurs et marquis se succédèrent ainsi dans ses murs.
